ENGLISH Pierre Dujardin was born in Hasselt (Belgium) on 04-05-1948. He took classes in painting and sculpturing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hasselt. His recent sculptures are figurative and characterised by a typical colorite. They portray the human being with its emotions, its suffering and pain, captured by the unexpected. The superficial beauty, so manifest and decadent as presented in our society today, is revealing the interior beauty, fascination, mystery and magic of the most marvellous creature on earth, the human being with its dreams and melancholy. De oppervlakkige schoonheid, zo manifest en decadent in onze maatschappij aanwezig, wordt geweerd, maar niet de innerlijke schoonheid, de fascinatie, het mysterie en de magie van het wonderlijkste wezen op aarde, de mens in zijn dromen en melancholie. Il a suivi des cours de peinture et de sculpture à l’Académie des Beaux Arts de Hasselt. Son oeuvre récente est figurative et caractérisée par un coloris spécifique. Il s’agit de l’homme qui montre ses émotions, ses souffrances, ses blessures et parfois son désarroi. La beauté superficielle, si décadente et manifeste dans notre société, est refoulée, mais pas la beauté intérieure, la fascination, le mystère et la magie de la créature avec ses rêves et sa mélancolie.
